Brad Wall, the Premier of Saskatchewan, announced yesterday that his government will get behind promoting trials for a new surgical procedure that may help people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Saskatchewan has the highest occurrence of MS in Canada, according to Wall.

But something is already available. It is very inexpensive. What could that be, you wonder? It is Vitamin D. It has long been known that people in the tropics do not get Multiple Sclerosis and that exposure to sunshine is the most likely reason they do not.

Sunshine combines with cholesterol in the skin and makes Vitamin D. The same relationship exists with cancer: the farther south one goes, the lower the rate of cancer! Asthma disappears with Vitamin D too. So do Rickets and other diseases like Macular Degeneration. Vitamin D regulates half our genes scientists are discovering. Give it a try.

People living in Saskatchewan would get very little useful sunlight even if they lived outside because the sun is too weak nine or ten months out of twelve. It is cold too, so people wear warm clothes. Most people in Saskatchewan live inside, where they get no sunshine, even in summer.

For some reason, doctors are 100% ignorant about Vitamin D. "You get that in your food. Eat a carrot." Doctors here in Regina, where I live, abhor Vitamin D. Doctors here have a prejudice against Vitamin D. What do they learn in medical school at the University of Saskatchewan? Snot?

The Premier of Saskatchewan, Mr. Wall, should spend his time, and the people's money, reforming the Saskatchewan health system, which is a complete scandal and which consumes as much as everything else combined. He needs to clean house. Wall needs to divert a river and clean out the Augean Stables.

One excellent example of the relationship between latitude and disease is Cecil Rhodes.

Oh! Canada

Canada is like most countries: Canada is run for the benefit of the people who run the country.

As Allan Blakeney, PC, OC, SOM, QC, FRSC, the NDP Premier of Saskatchewan (1971-1982) once remarked, "You are either on the bus, or you are under its wheels." Canada is unique because Canadians have been persuaded that they are all on the bus. Nope. The bus carries the government, the bureaucrats, the courts, the press, the schools, the doctors, the cops. The bus of State carries the people whose incomes come from the taxpayers. The military is an enforcer of the world-wide Anglo-American empire. Soldiers are sent to kill and to be killed. Soldiers are paid off with a bauble on their chests and are called "heroes" before they are forgotten, buried or discarded. Soldiers are not on the bus. Everyone else pays for the people who are riding on the bus which cruises along over their fleecy bodies and their mutton heads.

Industrialists are on the bus. Industrial workers are not on the bus, but their leaders and their families are!

Were one a resident of Zimbabwe, Guatemala, Brazil, or any other place, one would have no illusions about how things are. Americans are suspicious of the government. The United States produces legions of clear thinkers who criticize the system, for all the good that does. Canada is different. Canada is unique. Australia and New Zealand are similar to Canada, but Canada is the real land of sheep.

Dear Hanna Gartner: I watched your program last night. My sister couldn't watch it. She left the room. My sister thinks the idiots who tortured Ashley, drove her nuts and finally killed her should be taken out and shot. These people are more concerned about keeping their jobs (and pensions too, I presume) than caring for someone in their charge. They are not only brainless, they are heartless. It isn't really their fault of course. The problem goes right to the top. If any one of these people, or you, were treated the way they treated Ashley, they would be driven nuts too. Torture? Try sleeping on the floor. Try solitary confinement for three years. Try demands to submit and obey shouted through a steel cell door by the "authority" in charge. Try four or five storm troopers wearing body armour marching into the cell of a helpless girl to put her in shackles. No one had even one kind word for Ashley. No comfort. Nothing. This is not an isolated case. I'm glad you have raised an issue. The criminal justice/mental health system, whatever it is, is a disgrace. THE CANADIAN HEALTH SYSTEM IS WORSE. Call me and find out what they did to me.

Before the First World War, the British were very concerned about the German Empire that had been created by Bismarck. The Germans were making better stuff and selling it for less. Twenty-one years after World War I, World War II broke out and the Americans maneuvered Japan to be clobbered. Washington was very concerned about the Japanese: They were making better stuff and selling it for less. Rising from the ashes, the Germans and Japanese were doing well again by 1965. After two world wars plus the Cold War which included Korea, Vietnam and hundreds of little wars, the British Empire is long gone and the American empire may be on its last legs. The Chinese have climbed out of the grave dug for them by the Americans and the Indians are roaring back after the Raj. They are making better stuff and selling it for less. The Iraqis and Afghans today are further demonstrating that using weapons to get what one wants does not work anymore. The Pentagon conceded years ago that both wars were lost, despite having every advantage in money, firepower and technology. (The empire we live in hasn't won a war since 1945, despite all the mischief it has caused "defending freedom.") The formula of imperialism that worked for over a thousand years seems to be broken. The French and the Germans came to a rapprochement sixty years ago. They created the European Union by working together with the other Europeans. As Joe Schlesinger summed it up on CBC, Germany, as Bismarck intended long ago, is at peace and is surrounded by friends — including Great Britain and Russia. Only the Americans have yet to figure it out, but they will: Beating swords into plough shares works.

Fancy that.

I have been taking Carnitor® sold in Canada by Sigma Tau Pharmaceuticals of Scarborough, Ontario. Sigma Tau is an Italian company. It has a U.S. subsidiary and other subsidiaries around the world. Sigma Tau has only a few products. Its lead product is Carnitor® which does not require a prescription anywhere except Canada. Its patent has expired and generics are available, but not in Canada. Canadians are a captive market, thanks to their federal government.

I pay $116 a month for two 4 oz bottles. "No, it is not on the drug plan. You pay full price." I could buy exactly the same thing in the United States for 35% less. I could buy generic Levocarnitine or acetyl Levocarnitine (which is better) for even less. But Canadian customs stops competition at the border "to protect Canadians." I just went though the hoops with www.CanadaDrugs.com and was finally told they can't bring products into Canada from the United States. Their business is shipping products from Canada into the United States. We are talking about exactly the same thing being sold. Despite the Canadian propaganda, not every pharmaceutical drug is cheaper in Canada!

Canada is set up as a farm to benefit a few Big Canadians. Small Canadians get milked and screwed. Canadians think they live in a wonderful country and Canadians do live in a wonderful country, if they are the right Canadians! That is what they mean when Canadian institutions — the government, the bureaucrats, the courts, the press, the schools, the doctors, the cops — say "We protect Canadians."

In Animal Farm, George Orwell said all the animals are equal, except that some of the animals are more equal than others. Tommy Douglas made things even better than they had been before for the privileged classes. He made some of his friends members of the privileged classes. Canadians think Douglas helped the common man. That is not what he did. Douglas made a religion out of "Medicare" so doctors could have their hands in the public pocket along with the pharmaceutical companies which are better protected in Canada than the Mafia. Canada is one of the best countries in the world, but not for the advertised reasons for which it is famous, famous especially to Canadians who believe the lies they are told.

St. Matthew's Celebrates 100 Years

St. Matthew’s Regina Celebrates 100 Years

REGINA St. Matthew’s Anglican Church began 100 years ago, on the George Broder farm before there was a Winnipeg Street, before Regina went that far east. George Broder’s eldest daughter, Grace, started a Sunday School in the family farm house which was located where Victoria Avenue and Winnipeg Street intersect today.

Sadly, Grace Broder passed away in 1910, but her spirit lives on in St. Matthew’s Anglican Church today a century later. To commemorate Grace Broder’s life, a small 20 by 30 foot wood frame church was built south of the Broder farm house.

This little white church was consecrated as Grace Church in 1910 and ministered from St. Paul’s on 12th Avenue and McIntyre Street, Regina. St. Paul’s had been built only 25 years before.

The parish was growing. Regina was growing. In 1913, the rectory that stands today on Winnipeg Street was built immediately south of Grace Church. In 1915, a “basement church” was built south of the rectory. The “basement church” was roofed over and became Grace Church. The original white frame building became the church hall. Grace Church became St. Matthew’s Anglican Church.

The church hall was sold and removed a few years later as “Broder’s Annex” developed with streets, sidewalks, modest homes and more churches, including Lutheran, Serbian Orthodox, Romanian Orthodox and Roman Catholic, creating a neighbourhood of faith in an ethnic Babel.

The Great War broke out in 1914 and ended in 1918. Many from Regina lost their lives. Many more in Great Britain lost their lives too. To commemorate the life and death of her only son, an anonymous mother in England donated funds to complete the building of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Regina.

Frank Portnall, a noted Regina architect, was retained to draw plans. The roof was removed and the superstructure was built over what had been the “basement church.” St. Matthew’s was completed in 1926.

Grace Broder Chapel nestles on the south side of St. Matthew’s Church where it is warmed by the sun that shines on it in the summer and in the winter. Grace Broder’s spirit lives on to bless the church and all who have come there to worship through decades of turmoil and peace.

After a century and many thousands who came and went, Grace explains the enduring warmth of St. Matthew's.

St. Matthew's parish will hold an anniversary celebration on the weekend of September 17 - 19, 2010. "An Angel Watches Over Us" has been chosen as the theme for the event, in recognition of the woman whose life inspired construction of the original church. St. Matthew's Church, which began as a simple wooden building on a farm, has grown into an active parish in an impressive brick building surrounded by a modern city.
