DID RUSSIA invade the Ukraine as Washington claims? Here's a map that settles the question.
Crimea has been Russian territory, inhabited by Russians, since the victory of Catherine the Great over the Turks in 1792 and before. The Crimean peninsula was Turkish before, not Ukrainian. The Lugansk and Donetsk Oblasts, collectively known as the Donbass, have significant large ethnic Russian populations.
To inform people who think that Russians unfairly oppress Ukrainians, Soviet leaders Nikita Khrushchev and Leonid Brezhnev were both Ukrainians; Stalin and Beria were Georgians; Felix Dzerzhinsky (Iron Felix) was a Belorusian from aristocratic Polish extraction. The Bolsheviks were largely the same ethnic group as the neocons running Washington and New York today! Officially, by census, they were not Russians. When the Soviet Union dissolved, any former constituent part of the USSR was free to become independent. Many did. Ukraine was a founding member of a new commonwealth of independent states whose purpose was to be the welfare of everyone. That principle continues to guide the Russian Federation today.
The eastern half of Ukraine leans toward Russia while the western half of Ukraine leans toward Europe. Partisans in the west fought alongside the Nazis in WWII and they continued to fight the Red Army afterward. Some are Nazis to this day.
This map illustrates the ethnic and linguistic distribution within the Ukraine.
These maps of the 2004 Presidential election illustrate this divide:
This map illustrates the 2010 Presidential election between Yulia Tymoshenko and Viktor Yanukovych.
Viktor Yanukovych won the election in 2010, but he favored ties with Russia and was driven out of office by a coup d'état which supporters of the putschist regime in Kiev call the Maidan Revolution, This was engineered by Washington, the CIA, and George Soros, the masters of 'regime changes' around the world.
Washington's master stroke was the Great War (WWI) which completely destroyed the order that had existed from the defeat of Napoleon in 1815 to the beginning of WWI in 1914. The United States was the only winner. The rest of the world was devastated. It would take one more world war to finish off the British Empire and establish Washington as the "Leader of the Free World."
Divide and rule. The German, Russian, Ottoman, and Austrian Empires were carved up. The Chinese Empire had already fallen. The Russian Empire became the Soviet Union. In the Great War, the British spent a million dollars a minute for four years when a million dollars was a great deal of money. Though they have never accepted it, Great Britain never recovered from this pirrhyc victory.
The goal of Washington is not the 'liberation' of anyone. The goal of Washington is the domination of everyone. Russia stands in Washington's way and it must be destroyed. Washington believes it can destroy and loot Russia without a nuclear war. But if nuclear war is necessary, Washington thinks it can win a nuclear war. People in the West have been subjected to hundreds of years of anti-Russian propaganda. They have been primed for war. We live in very dangerous times.
To set the record straight, Stalin purged the Bolsheviks whose goal was a world revolution. Stalin's policy was "socialism in one country." On the other hand, the United States has been "freeing the world to death" since 1776 for the profit of a few. The Neocons who control Washington were Trotskyites before they were Republicans and Democrats. Trotsky was a Bolshevik. All Bolsheviks were and are Zionists. Stalin was an ally in WW II. The Red Army defeated Nazi Germany, not the U.S.A. and Great Britain. The Soviet people and the Chinese paid the price for WWII. Everyone will pay the price for WW III.
The purpose of the "conflict" in eastern Ukraine is to provoke a war with Russia by attacking Russians in the Ukraine. Washington pulled the same stunt in 2008. The Georgian army supported by the United States and Israel attacked ethnic Russians living in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Georgia. Putin was at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. When the Ukrainian army attacked the Russians in the Donbass, Putin was in Sochi watching the Winter Olympics.
If that isn't enough, here's something to think about:

Who were the Bolsheviks and why do they matter?
