by Morley EvansThere are 70 million American "Evangelicans" most of whom support the State of Israel. All of the American "evangelical" churches of the Bible Belt support Israel. They have money; They lobby Congress and elect Representatives and Senators who direct American foreign policy.
There are 14 million Jews worldwide. Not all Jews support the State of Israel. Many Jews vehemently oppose Israel. For example:
Norman Finkelstein says he is the only Jew the Israelis won't let into their "Jewish" State. Neturei Karta is an "ultra-orthodox" Jewish sect that has denounced Zionism from its outset. They say Zionism which is the political ideology of non-practicing Jews has hijacked the Jewish religion and seduced the Jewish people and others with practices like murder and theft that violate the Torah. They would return all of Palestine to the Palestinians because they own it. Jews who didn't want to live under Sharia Law could leave Neturei Karta says. Saudi Arabia promotes the Wahabbi branch of Islam which is alien to Palestinians and other people of the Levant which includes Jordan and Syria.
Why would "evangelical" Christians support the State of Israel? They believe "Biblical prophecy" is unfolding and they are "forcing the hand of God" by supporting Israel. They think God is a real estate agent. It says so in Genesis. They are taught to believe that WW III and the end of life on earth will be the beginning of the Second Coming when Christ will be King and Lord of All. As True Believers they will be rewarded. "Praise the Lord." Pass the ammunition.
