The secret to be happy is to be thankful for what one has. Thank God for what one has even if it isn't much.
If one’s income does not exceed one’s outgo, one will be unhappy. It doesn’t matter how much one earns. If one’s income exceeds one’s outgo, one will be happy. It doesn't matter how little one earns. That is axiomatic.
If one wants a palace and isn’t thankful for the home that one does have, one will be unhappy. “If wishes were horses, paupers would ride.”
This was written for my girlfriend in Russia: We are not together. What do we have? You are young and beautiful. We are both safe and secure; We are warm and dry on a very cold day. We have enough to eat. Most people in the world have much less than we have.
We have a great deal for which to be thankful. Yesterday, Russians commemorated the Siege of Leningrad. A million Russians died mostly by slow starvation. We have much more than they had.
People must be thankful for what they have, or they will not be happy.
On every voyage one must 1). Know where one wants to go. 2). Take stock of what one is missing, assessing what one needs to arrive at the destination. 3). Plan and take action to get what is missing 4). Make adjustments as one progresses 5). Arrive Successfully.
Life is a voyage. We can be happy and get what we want too.
