Justin Trudeau in blackface |
Apparently, the person who is currently the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, once appeared in costume with make-up. Was Trudeau a Jenie from Arabian Nights? Was Trudeau disparaging "people of colour" who have more melanin in their skin than "white" people? Was Trudeau in drag? That would be okay in Canada, these days.
We don't know. We do know there is currently a federal election underway in Canada and his opponents will use anything they can find to smear and undermine the Prime Minister's chances.
Rather than deflect the issue, whatever it might be, Trudeau fumbled by saying he is ashamed and should have known better. Boo Hoo, sob! That more than anything indicates why Trudeau is a lightweight who should not be the Prime Minister. His father knew how to deflect criticism. I hated the man.
The issue of "blackface" has been imported from the United States where white people — and sometimes black people — wore black makeup in "minstrel shows" that portrayed black people in disparaging ways. It is a "lightning rod" issue that smears victims as "racists".
Canadians are namby-pamby, anyway. Trudeau is condemned for wearing "brownface", not, God forbid, the really bad "blackface". Doesn't Trudeau look much blacker than the bearded "people of colour" standing beside him?
Jagmeet Sing, the leader of the NDP has tried to capitalize on this attempt to insert race-baiting into the Canadian election. Was the NDP the author of this smear?
Trudeau, like all the clowns of Parliament, has many worse things for which he should be ashamed. I would name kowtowing to Zionism as an important one and the treatment of Canadian aboriginals since Confederation as another.
