Iranian missiles fired at US bases in Iraq
IN RESPONSE TO THE ASSASSINATIONS of Iranian Major General Soleimani and a top Iraqi commander, the Iranians launched missiles.
THE IRANIAN SIDE says Soleimani went to Iraq to see the peace mediated with Saudi Arabia by the Iraqi Prime Minister at the behest of the United States.
The Iranians have told the Americans, "We can attack your many bases and you can't do anything about it." Apparently, this is not an idle boast.
The missiles fired precisely hit their targets, indicating Iran has very sophisticated missile guidance technology and detailed, accurate, intelligence. It also confirms the Americans can do nothing about it. None of the Iranian missiles was intercepted. Doesn't the Patriot antimissile system work? It didn't protect the Saudi Aramco refinery. These were updated Soviet-era missiles. Iran has newer more advanced missiles than those too.
Iran notified the Americans, telling them what would be struck, enabling them to evacuate personnel from those areas. Iraq was simultaneously notified since the U.S. bases are on Iraqi soil.
Iranian forces and associated Shia forces in the region such as Hezbollah were ordered to "stand down" and not to escalate the crisis.

THE AMERICANS said the Iranian missiles hit random targets without damaging anything of value. Iran was accused of shooting down a Ukrainian jetliner "by mistake", implying Iranians are incompetent, they aren't. The U.S. vice president and the Israeli prime minister said Soleimani was preparing to attack them and his assassination was pre-emptive and necessary, it wasn't and he wasn't.
RESULT: The Iraqi parliament voted to demand all foreign forces to immediately leave their country. The United States decided to "stand down." An American commander wrote a letter stating U.S. forces would be leaving Iraq. This was denied by the Pentagon.
