INSPIRATION!
After looking at her Instagram page, I conclude this is Mariana Beckova, herself, flying through the air, not a Russian ballerina as I first thought. Mariana is amazing. Few humans can do this.
Some Ballerinas do this movement. No one else. Does it have a name? How do they land?
My friend, Barbara, is a ballerina.
Barbara says,
The leap is called a "grand jeté" (with an accent on the final "e"). You kick your front leg straight up in front of you as you take off from the ground on the back leg, stretch into the splits as you reach the height of your jump, then continue on the downward trajectory landing on your front foot. Just like jumping over a puddle but jumping much higher! I agree this is photoshopped, but it is still an impressive leap.
Thank you, Barbara
This is Mariana's Instagram page. You can follow her there. You can buy stuff!
Mariana is a Prague based yoga student and instructor. She started her career as an international model but later found mindfulness through yoga. After receiving her 200hr yoga teacher training at Yoga Academy International, she strives to inspire others to build their confidence on and off the mat.
I still think the picture below is digitally merged. Mariana is one picture. The other picture is a tsunami, probably offshore somewhere in Indonesia or Thailand on the Indian Ocean.
