The Great War 1914-18 was a calamity for everyone — except the United States. How could such a thing have happened? This is an accurate account. NONE OF THE LEADERS WANTED WAR.
The people, however, were enthusiastc. They chanted War! War! War! before the carnage began. The young First Lord of the Admiralty, Winston S. Churchill, alone in the leadership, loved war too.
I think a curse should rest on me — because I love this war. I know it's smashing and shattering the lives of thousands every moment — and yet — I can't help it — I enjoy every second of it.
