CHURCHILL & STALIN

They look very chummy here in 1942. How could Churchill have changed his mind so completely in four years? Did he change his mind? Notice Stalin's left arm. He suffered numerous strokes for years before one killed him in 1953.

In 1943, Churchill presented The Stalingrad Sword to Stalin to commemorate the Soviet victory at Stalingrad at the allies' conference in Tehran.

World War II ended in 1945.

The History Channel records:

"In one of the most famous orations of the Cold War period, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill condemns the Soviet Union’s policies in Europe and declares, 'From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the continent.' Churchill’s speech is considered one of the opening volleys announcing the beginning of the Cold War."
