Many Russian military traditions, such as goose-stepping, were adopted by the Russian Empire from Prussia. The American Reserve system came from Prussia. Most American military traditions including ranks and naval uniforms are direct copies of the British military. The American doctrine of using disproportionate overwhelming force came from France, specifically from Napoleon.
Stalin rightly thought the Soviet Union bore the burden of defeating the Nazis. The British and Americans faced much less, Stalin thought. Hitler thought the Nazi forces used against the British and Americans were like a fire brigade compared to the war with the Soviet Union. Hitler would know.
Russians deserve respect. Russians are not to be trifled with. Hitler and Napoleon found out the hard way.
Will you? When Putin offers an olive branch, accept it. Deal with Russia honestly for once. Contrary to our propaganda, we are not history's most honest people. I hate to tell you this, but it's true.
