U.S. DEBT

Below, is a chart from an article on the United States public debt [1] that shows the estimated ownership of Federal Securities. To whom does the United States owe money?

The chart shows Other investors (4%), Insurance companies, State and local governments (Pensions), U.S. Savings bonds, Depository institutions, Mutual funds (6%), State and local governments (5%), Foreign and international (28%), Federal Reserve and Intragovernmental Holdings (47%).

Foreign investors (Japan and China own half of this) and the Federal Reserve own 75% of the debt and everybody else owns 25% of the debt. The Fed owns approximately half of all U.S. Debt.

Everyone but the Federal Reserve, including Foreign investors, buys U.S. Federal Securities with U.S. dollars they get when they build widgets and sell them for more than it cost to make them. The government pays interest to investors who have purchased U.S. Securities.

Where does the Federal Reserve get the dollars it uses to buy U.S. Securities which are used (along with taxes) to fund the United States government? Does the Federal Reserve make widgets? What does the Federal Reserve do? [2] Does the Fed create dollars out of thin air and then loan them to the United States government?

The Federal Reserve is an unbelievably complicated system so what it is doing is concealed in plain sight, but the answer to the last question is yes. 

Selling more debt to pay the interest on what has already been sold — and to pay for even more spending — is a Ponzi scheme. Creating money out of thin air is counterfeiting. The world's financial system — not its economy — is based on this criminal operation which appears to be out of control and approaching collapse. Could we not have honest money?

The Tube

My Motto is "If I can understand it, anyone can understand it." If they don't understand, I'll see what I can do to explain it better.

Mr. Harry Beck, who designed the schematic diagram of the London Underground may have had the same motto as me. Beck was a worker in the underground railway system who designed his masterpiece in his spare time. He was paid 5 guineas for his work in 1933 (less than $10). He was inspired by the underground sewer system. Hundreds of millions of travellers around the world have found Beck's way of seeing things very helpful. Topographic maps of the Tube have been used ever since and have been copied by systems around the world.

Possibly millions of people are like Mr. Beck. They are history's unsung heroes. Unlike most of them, Mr. Beck got credit for his creation which hangs in a museum. The others to whom we owe a debt remain invisible.

Despite receiving the lion's share, giant organizations like universities, billion dollar corporations, government mega-projects and blue ribbon research agencies rarely discover much. Yet they claim problems today are too big for anyone small. Of course they claim that.

The Wright brothers (flight), Alexander Fleming (penicillin), Steve Jobs (personal computers) and Nicola Tesla (electricity) are perfect examples of individuals triumphing where giant organizations failed. Isaac Newton (physics), Copernicus (astronomy), and Marco Polo (exploration) were not members of leading organizations. Einstein did his best work in his spare time working as a clerk in the Swiss patent office.

Some people are greatly rewarded for their contributions, others are not. Position, wealth and power are won by those who are adept at acquiring them. Winning these (and fame too) requires skills which may not include virtue and intelligence, yet the young are taught that good ideas and good morals are most important if they want to succeed and become rich and famous. These are most important but they may not lead to "success".

It is always important to work at things that will lead to one's goals.

It is true that many, perhaps most, "leaders" are idiots. They succeed by acquiring and keeping power — which is the support of many, not by having the best ideas or being virtuous. Once, the best fighters in hand-to-hand combat became the leaders — exactly like lions. Today, advanced weapons level the field of combat and "politics" is what matters. Of course "politics" has been important for a long time, look at Alexander, Qin Shi Huang, Caesar, and Genghis Khan. 

The best ideas and the best people do not necessarily rise to the top. Some good things and some good people are stuffed down the tube.

Look On The Bright Side

Look On The Bright Side, they say. Why be a grump?

I agree. I look on the bright side while I look at the dark side. Most of the evil in the world would not be happening if we stayed at home and looked on the bright side while we worked to make a better world. But that is not what we do. Instead, we believe the lies our "leaders" tell us and we support their crimes.

In the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies the news media brought disturbing stories into our living rooms. They told us about people like Medgar Evers, and events like Kent State. They reported from the War in Vietnam on the nightly news. They looked into the scummy things that nice people don't talk about at parties. The Pentagon Papers and Daniel Ellsberg were very big news. But things changed. The media was anesthetized so nothing like the Watergate investigation could ever happen again. You were anesthetized.

During those years DARPA created the Internet. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is an agency of the Department of Defence (which before some reorganization was called the Department of War prior to 1949). Today the Internet is the only free media left. You are reading this because it is published on the Internet. Someday, they will figure out how to shut it down, or reverse what it says, the same way they shut down the New York Times, the Washington Post, CBS, NBC, ABC and the rest.

If you are reading this Blog, cast your eyes to the left and you will see a daily report by Margaret Griffis about the daily death toll in Iraq. Her report is there most every day, day after day after day.

You do not have a right to ignore this. This is happening because you are ignoring it. This did not happen when Saddam Hussein was the dictator. This started happening when we bombed and invaded Iraq. By-the-way, Saddam was a CIA asset before he became Public Enemy Number One. When Saddam was gone, Bin Laden became Public Enemy Number One. He once was a CIA asset too.

Here is today's bad news, if you are still asleep you are Public Enemy Number One. So wake up! This is happening because you are asleep. Look on the bright side while you look at the dark side. You will make the world a better place.

Strategic Air Command

This was our plan for peace after World War II. Everyone would be peaceful, or else. We still have the same plan.

After WW II, strategic bombing was promoted as an alternative to the Army, so the USAAF could become a separate service, the USAF, with its own budget. Modern warfare would be waged from the air, saving (our) lives. Airmen would strike the enemy from the sky with "bolts", like Zeus. Today, they are planning to kill people walking down the street FROM OUTER SPACE with "pinpoint accuracy".
