This was our plan for peace after World War II. Everyone would be peaceful, or else. We still have the same plan.

After WW II, strategic bombing was promoted as an alternative to the Army, so the USAAF could become a separate service, the USAF, with its own budget. Modern warfare would be waged from the air, saving (our) lives. Airmen would strike the enemy from the sky with "bolts", like Zeus. Today, they are planning to kill people walking down the street FROM OUTER SPACE with "pinpoint accuracy".
