WHEREAS Rohingya Muslim people are an ethnic minority who have lived peacefully in Myanmar (formerly called Burma) for generations
WHEREAS violations of the human rights of the Rohingya Muslim people has been going on in Myanmar for many years
WHEREAS violent attacks and killing of the Rohingya Muslims by local militants has exponentially escalated since 2012
WHEREAS since 2012 thousands of Rohingya Muslims have been killed, and 110,000 interned in enclosed camps by the government of Myanmar 
WHEREAS this persistent escalation of violence has resulted in the killing of innocent Rohingya Women, men, children, Rohingya villages burned and the living exiled into enclosed camps
WHEREAS to date 370,000 have fled for their lives and have become refugees, prompting the UN human rights chief to declare it “A textbook example of ethnic cleansing”
THEREFORE, we the undersigned request the Government of Canada to take strong measures to persuade the Myanmar government directly and through the United Nations:
TO DECLARE the Rohingya Muslims as being minority ethnic citizens of Myanmar. 
TO EXTEND to the Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar all the democratic and human rights and privileges accorded to other citizens of Myanmar immediately.
WE DEMAND from the government of Myanmar to use all necessary measures to protect the life, property and other human rights of the Rohingya Muslim population, and
TO STOP all violence against the ethnic Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
