Yes, I believe a collapse of the European Union, as we know it, is very likely.
History shows that when people stop believing in an idea, that idea slowly begins failing, and eventually, disappears almost completely. A great example of this would be the United Soviet Socialist Republics. When Soviet citizens in the 1970s and 1980s began believing less and less in the ideal of Communism, and especially when Soviet politicians began believing less and less in the ideal of Communism, cracks started to appear in the Soviet system, and eventually, it culminated in the fall of the USSR in 1991. Nowadays, only remnants remain of the USSR, namely the Communist parties which still exist in countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
The obvious question we should be asking is, are people losing trust and faith in the European Union, as we presently know it?
